I love to knit. I love to skate. I love to be creative.
Yes, I said I love to skate. That is how it all began.
By day, I coach figure skating. By night, I knit. The two hobbies merged when I started designing shrugs for my young skaters to wear over their skating dresses. I sold the shrugs at skating competitions, along with ponchos and shawls for the moms.
I began making purses when my daughter became engaged. She wanted something unique for her bridesmaids, so I made them evening bags to match their dresses. ( Luckily, it was a small wedding party !) They loved them. How unique.
Next, on to Fine Art of Fiber at the Chicago Botanic Garden, where I sold my ponchos and shawls. At the last minute, I threw in a few purses and felted flowers with which I had been experimenting . BINGO ! Everyone raved about the purses and the flowers. They were so whimsical and colorful. They caught everyone’s attention.
Now I focus on purses and flowers. The possibilities are endless. I am continually coming up with new ideas. ( Stay tuned for future designs ) My purses have been shown in a local fine art center gift shop, and I entered my second Fine Art of Fiber Show.
I test
each new design by wearing a sample. First, to make sure that it is sturdy, and, second, to make sure that it elicits compliments from strangers. If no one comments, then out it goes. ( I like to be noticed ! ) You can rest assured that each purse and shawl shown on this website has caught someone’s attention. And, for the wearer’s pleasure, all, but the felted bags, have a fabulous soft and colorful lining. I spend as much time choosing the lining fabric as I do in choosing my fibers. I shop across the country, (I have children living on both coasts) searching for unique handles, which my knowledgeable customers greatly appreciate.
I know you will be
pleased. |
